School Closing Updates:

Pasco- Announcement from Kurt Browning, Superintendent of Pasco County Schools, regarding closing Friday

Hillsborough Schools- Closed Thursday, Sep 7th, and Friday, Sep 8th.  You can find out more on the Hillsborough County School Website.

Pinellas County Schools- Closed Thursday, Sep 7th, and Friday, Sep 8th.

PASCO COUNTY, FL  —-  The Pasco County Board of County Commissioners has issued a Local State of Emergency for Pasco County.

The declaration allows the County Administrator and Assistant County Administrator for Public Safety to waive everyday procedures and do what they feel is necessary to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the community.  This includes: ordering evacuations, performing public work, making emergency purchases, renting equipment, hiring workers, using volunteers, etc.

The Local State of Emergency will be in effect for 7 days or until rescinded by the County Administrator if it’s no longer needed.

Residents needing assistance should contact the Resident Information Center at 727.847.2411.  If you have an emergency, please call 9-1-1.

Hillsborough County opened three sandbag locations.  Those locations will be open from noon until 8 p.m. and will reopen again from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. They are as follows:

  • West Service Unit – 9805 Sheldon Road, Tampa
  • South Service Unit – 8718 Old Big Bend Road, Gibsonton
  • East Service Unit – 4702 Sydney Road, Plant City

Pasco County Sand Stations
As Hurricane Irma approaches Florida, Pasco County Government is opening sandbag stations to help residents protect their property from potential flooding. Sandbag operations will begin today, Tuesday, September 5, 2017, beginning immediately. The following locations will be open 24 hours a day, until further notice:

  • West Pasco Government Center, 7356 State Street, New Port Richey
  • Mitchell Park, 4825 Little Road, New Port Richey
  • Fire Station #17, 2951 Seven Springs Blvd, New Port Richey
  • Magnolia Valley Golf Course Clubhouse, 7223 Massachusetts Ave, New Port Richey
  • Veterans Memorial Park, 14333 Hicks Rd, Hudson
  • C-Barn, 30908 Warder Road, San Antonio
  • Dade City Police Dept., 38042 Pasco Ave., Dade City
  • Land O’ Lakes Rec Center, 3032 Collier Pkwy, Land O’ Lakes
  • Wesley Chapel District Park, 7727 Boyette Rd, Wesley Chapel
  • Zephyrhills Fire Station, 6907 Dairy Road, Zephyrhills

* Sandbag locations are self-serve and are open to Pasco County residents. Residents should be prepared to fill their own sandbags, although various sandbag sites might have inmate assistance available. Sandbags are provided, but residents are encouraged to bring their own shovels.
